Whats Wrong With MY Baptism
The subject of baptism continues even unto this day a much discussed matter, and the thoughts and views presented are more than a few. Consider for a moment some of the Scriptures given from God about this vital and all important subject. Jesus commissioned His disciples to “Go into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mk.16:15-16). Upon the first Pentecost after the resurrection of Christ, in the city of Jerusalem, the apostles told the inquiring people to “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38). Although there are many passages, I shall mention just one more. Paul was commanded by Ananias, whom God had sent to Paul and gave this message: “arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16).
There are many religious groups noted throughout the world, and of which none will be found to be biblical as they teach baptism is to be offered as a choice, and if they so choose, they teach that it must be by immersion only, of which the immersion part is correct. (Rom.6:1-6). However, they do not believe nor do they teach that baptism is for the remission of sins, or in order to be saved from their sins. Baptism is offered by these groups, only when the “church” has voted upon the one requesting to be baptized. Therefore, neither baptism nor the church has any part in ones salvation, so they declare. Such a view and doctrine will make the command of baptism an unscriptural act, and the church no more than some social club one may join if he wishes. Friends, if such is true, then all the Scriptures noted above mean nothing. Please take what God has commanded, and not what some man or men have designed.
Well, back to the question: What’s Wrong With My Baptism? If you were baptized as instructed and noted above, you were baptized for the wrong reason. If you followed their teaching and was taught that you were saved, and then (after you thought you were saved) baptized, it was not scriptural baptism. I’m sorry, but I must take, and go by the Holy Word of God, and it states or better put, commands, that one MUST be baptized (immersed) in order to receive God’s pardon from your sins. What is wrong with doing it as the Scriptures command? I pray you will obey God, and be baptized for the remission of your sins this very day!
