Be Well Pleasing

The inspired word states,  “ . . . . .be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might. . . giving thanks unto the Father.” (Col.1:9-14). This surely ought to be enough to create and strengthen in our hearts the desire to be filled with the knowledge of His blessed will, as we seek to walk worthy of the Lord. It should lead us to  a  more  diligent study of the word of God, ever learning what is well-pleasing  to Him in our daily living.

There are  a  few  important  things  to  be  considered.  We  therefore  are  commanded to be obedient, that is “keep the commandments”, and “be strong”.  There is great strength gained by unreserved obedience to the blessed and holy commands of the Lord and Savior. It is not a matter of pick and choose. Yet, life has revealed that there are more than a few who do this.  They seem not to be embarrassed to take up certain commandments and precepts which suit them, but are glad to dismiss others. What right does one have to select in such matters?  None  whatsoever!

Nevertheless, the problem is not a small one, rather found in large number.  Consider for one moment the subjects of faith and baptism.  With  any  study  of the Bible, everyone will be fast to see these two subjects arising throughout the law or commandments of Christ. Faith is everywhere commanded for one to be well-pleasing to God.  Such passages are seen in (Heb.11:6) (Jno.8:24) (Rom.5:1) and (Jas.2:24).  After reading these and others they pick this part, then declare that there is no need to be baptized in order to be saved. The Scriptures are plain, and the commandments are just as strong for everyone to be obedient by being baptized in order to obey God and be saved. Consider these commands: (Mk.16:16) (Acts 2:38) Acts 22:16) and (Gal.3:27).  Friend, I pray  you  will  obey His  commands of  faith  and  obey  His command to be baptized to be saved.  This He hath commanded for everyone in the world to do in order to  “Be  Well-Pleasing”!!
