Then Are Ye Truly My Disciple

There  are, and have been in times before, many enemies of the Bible and the way of Christ.   The Bible makes it clear just who these enemies are that care nothing for Christianity. There are many followers of Christ with great faith and love, and the Bible makes it just as clear who these faithful ones are, walking in the steps of their Lord. Jesus said: “If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples.”  (Jno.8:31). How is it known, if I am truly His disciple? Also, to be a true disciple of His, three  things  are  a  must: “ denying self,   Taking  up  your cross, and following Him!”  (Matt.16:24).

The true disciple will abide by the word to PRAY ! May we always abide in this glorious commandment and high honor. In fact the word  declares that we must “pray without ceasing”. (1Thess.5:17). This will call for us to pray for our enemies, as noted in (Matt.5:44). These may be people who curse us, or hate us, and despitefully use us. It will also be those  who  would  lead  souls  astray  by the teaching of error. (Phil.3:16-19).  There is not a person upon the earth of whom we are not to pray for. (1 Tim.2:1-2).

The  true  disciple  will  abide  by the word to TEACH ! This is as important  in  being  a  disciple  as praying, loving and being humble. Failure here will bring about sharp rebuke by His word. (Matt.20:6). The Bible  still  reads    “Go   ye   into   all   the   world    and    preach   the  Gospel  to  every  creature.”  (Mk.16:15).  Let  us  make sure we are truly His and teach others.

The true disciple will abide by the word to ATTEND  the services of the church!  The word continues to read “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together….” (Heb.10:25).  The love of our heart tells on us in loud tones when this commandment is void in our life. Yet many, far too many, seem to pay little to no attention of this matter at all. Why? Their heart is not right, and they are not a true disciple of Christ.   Amen.
