The Must

The writer of the book of Hebrews lays out the foundation of our faith. “Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder  of them that  diligently seek Him.”  (Heb.11:6).  The  must  noticed in this passage  is therefore  a command  or commandment.  One is  obligated,  and becomes  an imperative duty! What is the must for us to believe? We believe with strong faith that God had/has no beginning and will have/has no end. Our faith, hope, and knowledge is firmly fixed, and all of which has us depending fully on the God who is infinitely worthy of trust because He is absolutely and eternally unchanging in His Being, Perfections, Purposes, and Promises!

God’s eternity may be spoken of in the following expression: God has no beginning, and no end. He has always been, and always will be! Sometimes this truth is noted as the truth of God’s infinity with respect to time. To be infinite is to be unlimited, and this fact teaches that time does not limit God. Therefore, we, by this truth, must say that time does not change God, and time has no effect on His Being, Perfections, Purposes, or Promises. That will also mean that time has no effect on God’s knowledge. For example, He never learns any new thing, nor does He forget any old thing. This we must believe and of which will establish the fact of His perfect knowledge.

The  fact  that  God  has  no  beginning  and no end is seen in a great number of Scriptures, but one is noted in the book of Psalms. “Before the mountains were brought forth, or  ever  thou  hadst  formed  the  earth  and  the  world,  even  from  everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” (Psa. 90:2). Also, in the book of Revelation this eternal truth is proclaimed. “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev.1:8). Jesus the Christ is God and this fact is made very clear by His bold statement of His eternal existence when He said; “Before Abraham was, I am.” (Jno.8:58).  God  is  the  eternal “I AM”,  the one  who has always  been and will always be!! This  I  MUST  believe, and do by undeniable facts, and press upon everyone else to do the same!
