Stand Up For Jesus
Paul wrote by inspiration, “. . . Some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” (1 Tim.4:1). Some refuse to see that and anybody who does is called a pessimist, or some kind of witch-hunter. We must be on guard and see the wolf coming and take action. We must not wait until he is among the sheep in sheep clothing. Bob Ingersoll was an infidel but he stayed out of the pulpit.
Liberalism is not just a different variety of Christianity, it is another religion with another gospel and bears a different fruit. All of which Paul says will be “accursed”. (Gal.1:7-9). We are seeing new personalities and new terminologies today, but the same virus merely sporting new names. Putting poison in a new bottle and calling it ginger ale makes it all the more dangerous. False doctrine always uses a plausible gimmick to get the foot in the door. It always makes smooth and sweet speeches about tolerance but it is a one-way tolerance. They have kind words for apostates but only scorn for old-fashioned Bible truths and believers. Let it be known however; We shall not run and hide, rather we have the courage and faith to “fight the good fight of faith”. (1 Tim.6:12). The battle may be long, but truth and righteousness shall prevail! We must remember the words of the apostle Paul: “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Gal.6:9).
What is most disturbing to me is that we are finding more than a few good men today who see no cause for alarm. I truly think we are losing or we have already lost the real meaning of “EVANGELIZE”. Some seem to think that if we make enough popular speeches, put on enough kick-off suppers and hand out enough posters, we have done all that is required by the Lord.
Some most needed advice is found in an old song. “Stand up, stand up for Jesus! Ye soldiers of the cross; Lift high His royal banner, It must not suffer loss; From victory unto victory His army shall He lead, Till every foe is vanquished, For Christ is Lord indeed.” When the battle is raging and the way is long, may we be strengthened in the Lord and Stand Up For Jesus!
