The Ressurrection
One stated a number of years ago that, “All roads of the Bible lead to First Corinthians Fifteen and that of the resurrection.” This statement has stayed with me down through the years, and I accept it as a truth and noted fact. Everything of the Christian life is and surely must be connected to this great event! Without the resurrection we need not go forth preaching or teaching the Gospel of Christ. Paul said if there is no resurrection then “our preaching is vain, and our faith is also vain.” (1 Cor.15:14). He once again stressed the importance of the resurrection by saying that Jesus “was put to death for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.” (Rom.4:25). Peter wrote that Jesus was “raised up from the dead...that your faith and hope might be in God.” (1 Pet.1:21).
Christ was resurrected from the dead to die no more, and of which insures us that we will receive a resurrection when time is no more! “And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by His own power.” (1 Cor.6:14). Again, “….he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus. . .” (2 Cor.4:14). I wish for us to notice what Paul was inspired to write in 1 Cor.15:20. “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.” Jesus, our Lord has made all things ready for us! Salvation, making ready for death, and assuring us life beyond the grave. Therefore, His resurrection paved the way for us to have the same. . .to die no more! He, Christ, was the one and only one to come forth from the grave to face death no more. He was the “firstfruits”. Now, we are ready for that ourselves. Once we are brought forth from the dead, we shall die no more!!
We now are furnished with this assurance: “This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” We are able then to say, “O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor.15:53-57). Christ Jesus hath given us a lively hope by The Resurrection.”
