100% Proof…What More De We Need?

The custom of taking a social drink is becoming more and more common today. A study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the federal agency study states: “10 million American adults are alcoholics or encounter problems when drinking.”  The economic loss associated  with alcohol  use in the U.S. each  year is $89.5 billion including the cost of medical treatment, lost productivity and accidents. Alcohol and drugs cost one southern state an estimated $2.8 billion a year in time lost from jobs, injury, health care and rehabilitation services. That one state spent  $944 million for alcohol alone in 1983. Do you think it has improved? The National Center for Health Statistics and Analysis, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Washington, D.C. writes: “The Surgeon General has reported that life expectancy has improved in the U.S. over the past 75 years for every age group except the 15-24 year old group, whose death rate is higher today than it was 20 years ago. The leading single cause of death for this age group is drunk driving.” One who will not see the stench of this will need to be taken by the hand and led home!

What God has to say  about this is even  more important!  Strong  drink destroys one’s judgment. “But  they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest   and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are  out of the way  through strong  drink; they err in  vision, they stumble in judgment.” (Isa.28:7). Strong drink brings sorrow and woe. If you don’t believe that just ask the beaten wife, and unloved children.  God put it this way: “Who  hath woe? Who  hath  sorrow?  Who hath contentions? Who hath complaining? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek out mixed wine.” (Prov.23:29-30). Strong drink deranges the mind. “Thine eyes shall behold strange things, and thy heart shall utter perverse things.” (Prov.23:33). Strong drink causes poverty. “For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty.” (Prov.23:21).

Someone truly said, “Drunkenness expels reason, drowns memory, distempers the body, debases duty, diminishes strength, inflames blood, causes internal and external wounds.  It  is a witch to the senses, a devil  to the soul, a thief to  the purse, a  beggar's  companion, a  wife’s woe, and  children’s sorrow. It makes  mankind a  beast  and  self   murderer.  He drinks to others’ good health and deprives himself of his own.”  That, my friends, is 100%  proof...What more do we need?
