Only Dear Lord in Thee
The inspired instructions we have from God is that mankind has been promised happiness in this life. “Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” (Psa.32:1). “He that hath the Son, hath life.” (1 Jno.5:12). How could we not be thrilled by such promise noted just in these two passages? Yet, I wonder if there are those who see only life as an existence here and now, and that is all? Beloved, we have been promised, and indeed have been given life and happiness, which is only found and enjoyed in Christ! Apart from Christ Jesus, all is misery throughout our life now, and then ends in unwanted death. Paul expressed it this way, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Phil.1:21). Because of the great love and sacrifice of the “Lamb of God” who took away our heavy burden of guilt upon the cross, made it possible for us to enter upon the path of life, and partake of the cup of divine happiness. I tell you with great emphasis; our life in Christ begins at the cross, and flows onward into an eternity of glory; a happiness which, each day, becomes deeper and purer, finds completeness in the Lord and Savior. Any life without Him leads in another direction, and is the path of the evil one. Don’t go there.
True, the enemy of souls spreads upon the path he would desire for all mankind to walk, that which glitters, in order that men may imagine it to be gold. May it be remembered . . . There is nothing real, nothing solid, nothing satisfying, but only in Christ! Outside our precious promiser, and our exalted example, “all is vanity and vexation of spirit.” (Eccl.1:14). The eternal joys continue to rain upon all who are His, and we continue to live in, live for, and then live with Him!! May our voices be heard to sing: “Only in Thee, when days are drear, when neither sun nor stars appear, still I can trust and feel no fear, sing when I cannot see, Only in Thee, whatever betide, All of my need is freely supplied; There is no hope nor helper beside, Only, Dear Lord, In Thee!”
