The Offers Of All Offers

 

 

When we view the Lord Jesus on the cross and the sacrifice made that we may have peace with God, we see Him as One whose heart was devoted for the purpose of glorifying God and accomplishing His will. When we view this sacrifice freely given, we see One who has a place in His loving heart and on His powerful shoulder for a worthless, helpless sinner as we all are so described. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom.5:8).

 

            This  very  same  One,  Jesus,  Lord  and  Savior,  who  is  Heaven’s  delight,  is the  spring  of  lasting  joy. “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say,  Rejoice.”

(Phil.4:4).  He is the very source of our much needed strength. “I can do all things through  Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phil.4:13).  The comfort He has made available to all is most refreshing in our troubled world. “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in  any  trouble, by  the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2 Cor.1:3-4).  All of which is made  possible by the cross and the One who lovingly went there that we may be blessed with all spiritual blessings!

 

            Christ is the object of our hearts and the theme of our songs. “Having made peace through the blood of His cross.” (Col.1:20), we stand with glad hearts as we lift our  voices to  Heaven declaring “When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.”  We, like the prodigal find it well now, because of the offering made at the cross, and of which could be made by no one else but the Christ. He will not assign us a lower place than at His own table, nor any other portion than that of which He enjoys.

 

            The peace-offerings of old are to be compared with our peace-offering made by the cross of Christ. Therefore, through the sacrifice of Himself upon the altar of love He establishes the peace of the heart, and meets the deep and manifold necessities of our soul. This was The Offering of All Offers!!
