More On The Trinity
When we come to the New Testament for the information it furnishes on this important subject, we will find the facts are furnished in abundance. Therefore, we will list a few passages to establish this true, and inspired fact. “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.” (Matt.3:16-17). Here at this moment we have three members of the trinity performing three distinct activities. The Father is speaking from heaven; The Son was baptized by John, and The Holy Ghost descending from Heaven! At the end of His earthly ministry, Christ tells the disciples to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”(Matt.28:19).
The proof of the Trinity keeps mounting throughout the New Testament Scriptures. First Corinthians 12:4-6 states; “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.” Similarly, this important truth or doctrine is seen in Second Corinthians: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. (2 Cor.13:14). In like fashion, we notice the three persons of the God-head (trinity) in the fourth chapter of the book of Ephesians. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Eph.4:4-6). Other passages found in both the Old and New Testaments are in great abundance. Some from the Old Testament would be (Genesis 1:26)and making note of the plural verb (“let us”) and the plural pronoun (“our”), and the conclusion must be . . . The Trinity! Also, notice the “us” in Genesis 3:22; also in Genesis 11:7; then in Isaiah 6:8.
Therefore, we firmly conclude, that the doctrine of the Trinity is an undeniable fact established by the inspired Scriptures, and can be summed up in the three following statement: (1)One God in three persons. (2) Each person is fully God. (3) Therefore, there is one God! (1 John 5:7). May the old song “Doxology” be sung with meaning: “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” Amen!!
