I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord

The  church  should  be  the greatest thing in the Christian’s life! Everything else in his or her life should find its place, and have its time, as it compares with or contributes to the work of the Lord’s church. No social connections should be formed which involves duties or associations that will interfere with or lessen our love for the church and her works. We may take  part in many things, but  the church  must  come  first, for this we are commanded. (Matt.6:33).

Young  people should select their companions and engage in their recreational  activities with  the church in mind, being careful not to do anything that will cause their interest in the church to weaken and die. Any and  all activities on the  Lord’s  day should be planned with the church and the  worship  services  in  mind.   Too  may  get  all  tied-up  on  Sunday  afternoons, and then cannot, or rather, will not come to worship on Sunday nights. It is not only the young that are guilty, but many (far too many) adults as well. If you would only cultivate an enjoyment for things spiritual, then you would have little or no problem in putting the church first.

To love the church is to love God! To love God is to love the church! One cannot love God without loving the church for which Christ died. (Acts 20:28)  (Eph.5:25). When one does not put the church first, he does not put God first, and you cannot say otherwise. May we always know that God is worthy of all the honor and glory we are capable of rendering. Surely, none will be found who would doubt this, much less try to deny such a truth. When we consider, really consider, all things He has done for us, and is now doing for us, then  pray tell me  how one could keep  from loving the church of which He is head? The old song expresses it correctly. “Beyond  my  highest joy, I prize her heavenly ways.  Yes indeed,  “I Love Thy Kingdom Lord”!!
