Are You Lost
It is plainly stated that Jesus came to seek and save the lost. If He did that, it surely means that mankind was and is lost. Meaning, they are in their sin and need salvation. I think we have failed to realize what it means to be lost in our wealthy and fast-paced age. The first thing we should come to grips with is to realize that the lost are separated from God and from having fellowship with Him. The prophet of old said that “your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you.” (Isa.59:2). All efforts to picture the sad condition of a lost soul falls short of really stating its terrible condition. What a terrible thing to even think about being separated from God and from whom all blessings flow. Paul said that the lost “shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power.” (2 Thess.1:9). Are you lost?
We must remind everyone that being lost means they are lost in sin, and that is described in the Bible as wickedness, evil, and ungodliness. Friends, there is no middle ground. One either does the Lord’s will or the devil’s: that is it. You cannot serve both, “you will hate the one, and love the other; or else you will hold to the one, and despise the other.” (Matt.6:24). Therefore, those who are against God are serving the devil, and will one day realize the real consequences of sin as they stand before God in judgment and are turned into everlasting punishment. Are you lost?
Another thing we should note, is that when one is lost he or she loses his or her usefulness to both God and mankind. No one can live in sin and live a useful life. He certainly can’t be useful to God and is in no position to be useful to humanity. Yes, he may serve humanity in temporal ways to some advantage, but only in that way. What would such a person who is in sin have to offer spiritual to anyone? Are you lost?
When one is lost in sin and away from God, he stands alone without hope. He dies without any hope of going to Heaven when death comes. It will come! This is a part of the sinner’s condition. There is no such thing as living in sin and disobedience, and entertaining a hope of happiness hereafter. (Rom.6:23). Are you lost?
Remember, one does not have to be lost. Christ came to save the world and He will do just that if you will obey the Gospel. To obey the Gospel you must believe or have faith, repent of your sins, confess your faith in Christ, and be baptized into Christ, all of which is for the remission of sin. The saved will be added to the church, the one you read about in the Bible. (Acts 2:47). Then, you can go on your way rejoicing, because you are no longer lost! Don’t Be Lost.
