To Live Is Christ
The beloved passage noted in the book of John states, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (Jno.14:6). Then we are told how we are blessed by the coming of our Savior. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. “ (Jno.10:10). Many speak of seeing life when they launch forth into society, travel here and there, and see all that is to be seen. However, they often forget the only true, the only real, the only divine way to see life that is made available, is by and through the Son of God.
How little people give thought to this great and wonderful truth. All must see that the Bible teaches, and all must remember that “He that hath the Son, hath life.” (1 Jno.5:12). Also, Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” (Psa.32:1). We can have abundant life and lasting happiness only in Christ. Apart from Him, all is death and misery. It is when the thick vail of unbelief and disobedience is removed, and we are able to behold the Lamb of God bearing our burden of guilt upon the cross, that we enter upon the path of abundant life, and there partake of the fount of divine happiness. This life in Him was made possible by that cross, and flows onward into an eternity of glory, and happiness, which each day, becomes deeper and purer, more connected with God and founded on Christ, until we find ourselves in the presence of the Almighty. To seek life and happiness in any other way is vain and hopeless.
True it is, that the enemy of souls spreads a glitter over this scene of life we have in Christ, and by doing so he has mankind to imagine that the glitter to be all gold. This evil one’s main object is to keep everyone from Christ, and drag them down into eternal perdition. There is nothing real, nothing solid, nothing satisfying that the devil has to offer. He is indeed a crook who changes himself into an angel of light. “And no marvel; for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Cor.11:14-15). It is in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior we shall forever find that which satisfies, gives comfort, and offers unbroken promises! In Christ alone true and eternal joys are to be found. We only begin to live when we live in, live with, and live for Christ. Amen!!
