I Have It All

To the poor, restless, sin filled heart, who is giving no attention to Christ, may cry out for a new and different direction. However, the faithful apostle Peter found his deep and joyful delight in the “exceeding great and precious promises” of Christ (2 Pet.1:4). He found in Christ all he needed for time and eternity. Paul said, What  things  were  gain  to  me, those  I  counted  all   things  but  loss  for  the   excellency  of   the  knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. . .and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”  (Phil.3:7-8).

This is the language of  a devoted  child of God.  A Christian  who  has found  a perfectly absorbing and commanding faith and commitment in Christ Jesus. What could the world offer to such a person? What could it do for him? Did Paul, or would we who are Christians today, want  the riches of  the world; its honors, or its  pleasures in a  greater degree than we desire God and His way?   The answer  is a resounding  NO! In fact Paul viewed such as nothing more than dung, and Christ as precious. How was this? Because he had found the comfort, assurance and hope needed in Christ. If anyone  had  suggested  to  him  the  thought  of  getting  on  in  the  world  or  of  seeking to make money far more important, just what do you think his reply would have been? No  doubt, Paul  would  have  answered  what  we  today would need to answer. Simply, I have it all in Christ! We, as well as Paul, would  be glad  to utter  the  words  of  David  of long ago. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”  (Psa.23:1). I have found in Christ “unsearchable riches”  - “durable riches and righteousness.”  All these things of  the world will pass away like the vapor of  the morning; and  even  while  they last, are wholly  inadequate  to  satisfy  the  desires  and  aspirations  of  an  immortal  soul. Therefore, I ask, Why would  I  want  to turn  to  the  wrested  rubbish  of  this  world,  its  pursuits, its  pleasures,  its honors, and relinquish all  that  Christ  gives  and  promises?  It can  simply  be  stated”  In Christ “I  Have  It  All”!!
