A
Good Wife
The high, favorable, and
greatness of a good man is to find a good wife! The wise man Solomon said that
this is true. “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth
favor of the LORD.” (Prov.18:22). She will be the person or wife who has
the ability to adapt to varying
conditions and through many circumstances, and remain upright, well
focused, and joyful whether faced with adversity or prosperity. Consider a good
wife. First, she is good for her man! It was not good for man to be alone, therefore, God made
and gave man a wife. “She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.” (Prov.31:12). She places
before him her virtuous ways and he shall find that to be worth
more than the price of rubies.
(Prov.31:10). She is good for her man for she will
forever be trustworthy, and he will know this in his heart.
(Prov.31:11). He will notice his good wife and love her all the more because she is
a caring wife. (Prov.31:20). The good wife will
be an honorable mate.
(Prov.31:25). However, above all the good of her
character is the fact that she is a God fearing wife. (Prov.31:30). Her man
will have a good life because of his good wife and he finds his need of
intelligent and sympathetic companionship which cannot be found in any other
creature.
A second thing to be noticed about this good wife; she is
good for their children. She shall not try to shift this
responsibility off on some other person(s). She will be faithful to her duty,
insuring well-mannered and morally upright children. Because
of this goodness “her children arise up, and call her blessed; her
husband also, and he praiseth her.” (Prov.31:28). The
children are instructed to “forsake not the law of thy mother.” (Prov.1:8).
May our land be filled with wives who are described by the Lord God as good.
Third, a good wife is good, very good, for society. The
nation, community, and the home all are benefited and
indebted to the wives and mothers for most of the good found in the world
today! It would be impossible to visualize conditions in society
where there are not good wives and/or women and their godly strength. “Give
her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Prov.31:31).
The man of the home will enjoy the greatest sense of peace and security when he
shares a home with his good Christian wife! Give them their deserved praise,
and give God thanks for your good wife.
Amen.
