God Really Does Provide

There are many great sermons recorded in many volumes of books by outstanding preachers of the Gospel of Christ; preachers of the past and the present day. The greatest of all sermons we could read, is the one by the Son of God as recorded in the book of Matthew. In this great sermon Jesus said, “no man can serve two masters.” (Matt.6:24). Jesus did not say it would be best if man did not serve two masters, rather, He made it very clear and very emphatic when He explained that you CANNOT serve two masters. The mammon that is used in this verse is just simply the things of the world. One may possess material wealth and use it for the glory of God, but we must never allow the things of this world to become our master, for then we cannot be the servants of Christ.

With this strong  warning placed  before us by  Christ  the  Lord,  He  made  this statement, “Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body more than raiment?” (Matt.6:25). It is a noticed fact that many lessons could be gathered from this verse, but one is outstanding; the providence of God!  He is letting us know that life is more than ‘things’. God has given us life! Knowing that we were in a terrible fix, He gave Christ that we could be saved from sin, therefore, we believe with great assurance that He will give us the lesser gifts or things necessary to the sustaining of life.

He pointed to the birds of the air, and declared that the “Father feedeth them.”  Our faith  stands on solid ground, when it is  placed in  God.  He said  that  we are much more important than the birds and if God cares for the birds He will care for us. That we must and do believe! Now what more could we want? Jesus knows the trouble and worried mind of mankind over what to eat, what to drink, and what to wear, and therefore is saying, I will help you have all of these. Consider with a heart of love and faith Matthew 6:33!! With this in mind, we  need to note what  Peter had to  say to the  badly battered  and persecuted  Christians. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.” (1 Pet.5:7). God is our Father and we are His children, and as parents love their children, so our Heavenly Father loves His children. Surely this will encourage us to cast our cares upon Him.  The Bible is full of examples of God providing for those who are His. This gives us the brightest of hope for the  present day, and strength to face the future.  The facts stand out  and forever shall remain true, God Really Does Provide!!
