Glory To God In The Highest

Man may be called upon to deal with some worldly powers that know not God. In Exodus 1:8-10 we read how God’s people were faced with such. “Now there arose a king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.  And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass that when there falleth out any war they join also unto our enemies and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.”  All this is the  reasoning of a heart that had not taken into consideration the Almighty God.  If he had, then all such reasoning falls to the ground. Apart from, or independent of God, man may seem very wise, but only bring God in, and they are proven to be perfectly  folly!

Why  should, or  would  we  allow  our  heart  and  mind to be, in any wise, influenced by such thinking and calculations which depend upon the total exclusion of God? To do so is nothing short of atheism. It is well to see that such is ever true with the reasoning  of  men’s  skeptic  mind,  and  God  is entirely shut out. However, the death-blow to all skepticism and infidelity is the introduction of God into the scene. Till God is noticed, man may strut up and down upon the stage of life with an amazing show of wisdom and cleverness. However, the moment the mind catches even the faintest glimpse of the Blessed One, they are stripped of their cloak, and disclosed in all their naked foolishness. Therefore, of the king of Egypt it may assuredly be said that he did greatly err, not knowing God and His everlasting plans. As a result, all the kings thoughts and plans were founded upon the ignorance of that grand foundational truth. . . namely,  God  Is!!

May it not be so with us today. We are forever to “look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen…” (2 Cor.4:18).  If we note only the things seen,  we like Pharaoh,  will see  nothing  but  wrath,  taskmasters,  burdens, rigorous service, and hardships. When we put our minds upon things not seen, we will see God’s eternal love, His unfailing promises, the joy of salvation, and the beauty of our eternal home!  Then we are made to declare, Glory  To  God  In  The  Highest!
