Christian Beauty
We have often stated that the Christian life is a great and joyous life. That statement can be made because of what the Bible teaches on the subject. Many reasons could be given, but note just one: We bear one another’s burdens! This is made clear by Paul in Gal.6:2. This is what he was getting across in verse ten. “As we have therefore opportunity,
let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the house hold of faith.” How may we do good, or bear one another’s burdens? It isn’t any doubt that it must be done, therefore we are to know the how. Consider:
We may help when there is the burden of some affliction whether great or small. Here is where we have the opportunity of weeping with them who weep. It may come as a result of illness, and there will be burdens too heavy for a family to bear alone. They will need sympathy, they will need encouragement, they will need our prayers, and they will need help in a physical or material way. In times of disappointment and sorrow, it is possible for one to stand by another in such a way as to give them moral strength and courage to bear the burdens, whereas, without it they may become discouraged and fall away. When people go through some great period of illness or sorrow, and the congregation does not tend to their needs with encouragement and help, they think that the church is not what it ought to be, and they may be right. Because we are Christ-like, our hearts are filled with the words of the old song: “Each day I’ll do a golden deed, by helping those who are in need; My life on earth is but a span, And so I’ll do the best I can.”
We may help when there are spiritual burdens. Paul had spoken of a person being overtaken in a sin and those who are spiritual restoring the person back to the way of righteousness. Instead of closing our eyes to the persons sins, and turning our back upon him, we must go to the person and get him or her to turn around and back to Christ. Many there are who can be and must be helped in such fashion. Then there are those who are weak in faith, or have been overcome by the world. With love, and joy help is needed for them to change and live a beautiful life. Then, a soul will be saved, the church will be built up, and Christ will be honored!
I hope you will obey the Gospel of Christ today and enjoy the life in Christ, for that is the only life that has lasting promises. It is Christian Beauty!
