The Bible

I firmly  believe, and  ready to stand, upon the fact that all the words in the Scriptures, or in the Bible, are God’s words! Consequently, to disbelieve any word of Scripture is to disbelieve  God Himself.  In fact, He upon one occasion  rebuked  His disciples for not believing the Old Testament Scriptures. “Then said He unto them, O fools, slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.” (Lk.24:25). Then He made this important announcement: “if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.” (Jno.15:20). We are encouraged by the inspired apostle Peter to be mindful of the inspired words. “I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy   prophets,  and  of  the  commandment  of  us   the  apostles  of  the  Lord  and  Saviour.” (2 Pet.3:1-2).

I believe it is important to state that the words, all the words in the Scriptures, are self-attesting! Therefore, the truthfulness of the Scriptures, the Bible, cannot be proved to be God’s words by appealing to any higher authority. For if one tries to appeal to some other authority (whether, historical accuracy or logical consistency) for their proof of inspiration, and the Bible is indeed the very words of God Himself, then the Bible, I feel safe in saying, would not be our highest and absolute authority. Do you not believe then, that it would be subordinate in authority to the thing to which one has made  appeal to prove it to be God’s word and therefore inerrant, verbal, and plenary inspired? The truth and inspiration of this great and grand Book of books will stand on its  own   claims,  and   it  refuses  to  be  laid  aside   by  man  objecting  to its  supreme  authority.

Throughout history the great preachers have been those who have recognized that they have no authority by themselves and it has been their task to explain the words of the Scriptures and apply them clearly to the lives of those who hear. These preachers have not drawn their messages from their opinions, creative ideas, nor from their learned skills gathered through length of service, but from God’s powerful word! Essentially, they stood in the pulpit, pointed to the biblical text, and said, “This is what is meant by the passage.”  Therefore, you must believe and obey it with all your heart, for then will you find and enjoy the great and wonderful blessings of God as noted in THE  BIBLE!!
