God
Does Answer Prayer
The
apostle Peter wrote, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and
His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them
that do evil.” (1 Pet.3:12). One of the greatest questions that confronts
the child of God is: “Does God really hear and answer prayer in
this well established and
fully equipped world today”?
Often we find mankind facing many difficulties, and often reason that some of
these difficulties are
impassable. On one
side there are
doubts, hesitation, and uncertainties. Yet, there is another side where we see and
bow in full trust, and with unselfish labor and peace. Some, nevertheless, find
themselves on this side of the line, then at others times on the other side.
Friends, I am going to take the affirmative without hesitancy, believing that
it can be fully demonstrated, clearly and factual, that God does hear
and does answer, and that our great need
is the deep conviction, based upon the Bible, that the proposition I now am
affirming is true! God does answer prayer!
We search in answer of the thought; “Is there any
evidence offered that God has placed in
us the principle of dependency which at all times, but more so in
hours of distress and deep need, for us to cry unto Him with the promise He
will hear and help?” Yes!! “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of
grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb.4:16).
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The
Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” (Heb.13:5-6). We
may find at
times to be “persecuted, but not forsaken.” (2 Cor.4:9).
We are able to see and understand that proofs are numerous,
and incontestable that God cares
for us, and that nothing that
pertains to us can be foreign to Him! Therefore, I conclude that our God of love has surely “given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises.” (2
Pet.1:4), and is not forgetful of our temporal needs. God did provide
us with means of making ourselves and others happy, and He still has a concern
for us, and still
desires for our
earthly sojourn to be happy. He continues to listen attentively and
sympathetically when we cry unto Him in our
hours of trouble. He, no doubt, must be
pleased with us
when, in self-forgetfulness and
humility, do as He expects us to do . . . Bring all our needs before Him
and expect Him to hear and answer. It is true that prayer is the key to the
great storehouse of God, and certainly we have but to ask that we may receive
our requested needs from that storehouse. We receive not, because we ask not.
Ask, for God does answer prayer.
